There's no shortage of websites that make such claims. Yet if you visit such sites, you'll notice that their lists are different. They give their highest ratings to different companies.

Ask yourself: "Why are these lists so different?" Better yet - look up those web hosting companies in this directory and see what the Better Business Bureau has to say about them. You may be surprised.

The fact is, too many people have their own system for rating web hosting companies. And few of them consider what's best for the consumer. Most of the "rating" websites rank web hosting companies according to which ones sell the most or have the highest sales commissions. In other words, the ones that make the site owner the most money get the best ratings.

That system of rating is best for them, but it's not very good for you.

That's why I only trust ratings from the Better Business Bureau. They're the only ratings you'll find on this site. And web hosts with the highest BBB ratings are the only ones you'll see advertised here.

So here's my "Best Hosting" list: Web Hosts Rated "A" by the BBB.

The Web Hosting Bull

The Web Hosting Bull is composed of impressive advertising, phony ratings and questionable web hosting awards.

StartLogic is one of many who are good at spreading the bull. If you go to their website, you'll find the following awards displayed:

It's not unusual for some of the worse-rated (by the BBB) web hosting companies to display awards on their websites. The web hosting industry gives itself a lot of awards. Some are earned. Some are questionable.

So what else can be said about web hosting awards? Well, they look impressive. As does the other advertising and claims that are displayed. But if you want the truth, look a little deeper. That's what the BBB does.

Gored by the Bull

The worse web hosting companies don't always display awards on their websites. But many of them have impressive advertising and get good ratings from those who sell their services. The better they are at spreading the bull, the more of your money they get!

The bull convinced me to use StartLogic to host my sites. That was the beginning of years of problems and frustration. My sites went down frequently, applications wouldn't work on them, and technical support wasn't much help.

I could almost write a book about the problems I've had with StartLogic. Yet it's still a big seller on many websites - still getting good ratings from those who sell it.

And it isn't just one bad web host that's getting high ratings. In the box are some web hosting companies that you see advertised a lot, and rated high on many websites. But notice the Better Business Bureau ratings for these hosts. Do some of these names look familiar? They should. Their deceptive advertising is everywhere. And some website owners are making a fortune by selling these, and other, sub-standard services.

If you believe their bull, there's a good chance you'll have some of the same bad experiences that I've had. And that's why I created this website.

Dependable Web Hosting

To many of us, a website is much more than just a hobby. We put our heart and soul into it. It becomes a part of us - an extension of us. And it's worth much more than just a few dollars a month.

Our web presence is precious to us. The problem is, it isn't precious to many web hosting companies. They're more interested in making a quick buck than they are in providing the services they advertise.

I had to learn this the hard way. But you don't.

The Better Business Bureau provides us with honest ratings. And I'm determined to let those ratings be known. I'm determined to expose the web hosting bull so that you can make a good choice.

Whether you purchase your web hosting service here or not, pay attention to the BBB ratings. That will help you find a dependable web hosting service.
